Before the uptown campus of UAlbany was constructed Central Avenue 2 blocks from the downtown campus was a key attraction for SUNY students. A new facility, the S.T.E.A.M. Garden, created by the Central Avenue Business Improvement District (BID), has the potential of becoming a booming co-working and tech incubator space on Central Avenue. It recently opened with a first event being a panel on “Starting, Sustaining, and Growing a Small Business”. The Garden is a restored building at 279 Central Avenue. Hopefully, it will become a vibrant incubator space for students and residents of Albany and its surrounding area.
